Sustainability and Biodiversity

We believe land value lies in its natural potential and ecosystem services. Our schemes let landowners and investors unlock long-term income while enabling developers to exceed the required ten per cent biodiversity net gain.

What Is Natural Capital Development?

Natural capital is the stock of natural resources such as soil, air, water, habitats and biodiversity. We turn these into measurable, tradable assets that fund conservation and generate returns.

Camland leads the design, delivery and monetisation of:

  • Biodiversity net gain schemes
  • Carbon credit projects
  • Ecosystem services
  • Rewilding and land stewardship

Biodiversity Net Gain: A Legal and Commercial Opportunity

The Environment Act 2021 mandates a ten percent biodiversity net gain for new developments. We help identify land, design habitats, generate units and ensure compliance with DEFRA metrics. Our focus includes Open Mosaic Habitats that are ideal for brownfield offsetting.

Carbon Credit Projects

We support woodland creation, peatland restoration and soil carbon enhancement. Verified credits are sold in voluntary markets, creating long-term revenue, enhancing land value and supporting climate targets.

Flexible Landowner Models

  • Option, lease or purchase
  • Revenue share agreements
  • Exit strategies for long-term liabilities such as thirty plus year Section 106 commitments
